For nearly 20 years, social dancing has been part of my life. Salsa, bachata, the whole world that opens up the first time you step onto a crowded dance floor at 11pm on a Tuesday and realize this scene exists in every city, if you can find it.
That last part has always been the problem.
Every time I traveled — a new city for work, a weekend trip, even abroad — the first thing I'd do is try to find where to dance that night. And every time, it was the same scavenger hunt: digging through Facebook groups that hadn't been updated in months, scrolling Instagram for flyers buried under last week's posts, asking strangers, hoping someone in a forum had posted something recent. Sometimes I'd find an incredible night. Sometimes I'd show up to an empty venue. Often I'd give up and miss out entirely.
It shouldn't be this hard to find a dance floor.
